The Singapore River Festival 2009 returns for a second year, from 19 to 27 June 2009, to set abuzz Singapore’s 24-hour nightlife entertainment district with exciting lifestyle and entertainment events both on and along the river. From Boat Quay and Empress Place to Clarke Quay and Robertson Quay, the whole river will come alive with free events and activities.

“The Singapore River Festival is the river’s annual signature event celebrating water, entertainment and heritage,” said Ms Lynette Pang, Director of Entertainment Sports and Arts at the STB who elaborated that the event which was originally held in September during its inaugural run, has now been programmed in June to reach out to travelers during the traditional peak travel month and families with children enjoying the school holiday break. “Last year, over 180,000 people visited the Singapore River during the festival. This year, we have ensured that events and activities are mostly free and hope that both locals and visitors will join us to make this an even bigger and more memorable celebration of the River.”

Revellers will be spoilt for choice with nightly activities that include a specially-commissioned romantic musical and bumboat parade paying tribute to the people of the river, a music festival celebrating our vibrant musical past, spectacular aerial performances, a Mojito Fiesta, themed parties, an attempt at a record-making performance of mega illusions and a dance marathon.

With its wide variety of dining establishments along the river, the Festival also promises great deals such as specially-priced Mojito cocktails, a food and wine festival, one-for-one deals and a host of other irresistible food and beverage promotions to complement this not-to-be-missed nightlife experience.
